However the interior is in need of a major upgrade.Every time I drove past the University City Hall, I marveled at its beauty and design and wondered what the interior was like. Each floor can be accessed by a beautiful spiral staircase or an elevator. It was used again for the dedication of the University City Public Library and then was neglected until it was restored and operated by City Engineer Robert Norvell in the mid-1960s. The octagonal tower is only 84 feet wide and was designed by Herbert C. Chivers.

Historic buildings associated with municipal operations, including today's City Hall, were built by Lewis as facilities for his magazine enterprise. A lovely woman named Latreet scheduled a tour for us and on the day we visited, she met us at the entrance and gave us a brief history of the building before escorting us to the first, second, and fifth floors.
