Chazen hands the distraught Alison a knife and tries to convince her to reject her task as the Sentinel, commit suicide and join Michael in Hell instead. It's directed by Michael Winner so when the horror kicks in, it's often over the top! Late one night, Brenner goes to Alison's building, while inside Alison is again awakened by strange noises, and encounters the animated, rotting corpse of her recently deceased abusive father in the stairwell. Christina Raines plays a lovely model in New York who seeks out a new apartment and begins to meet strange neighbors and reveal a secret about the building and herself slowly building up to quite a climax by film's end. I'd say this 70s gem is vastly underrated. The practical effects were great. It's filled with mystery, dread and horrifying imagery. Was this review helpful to you? We're supposed to be intrigued by the mystery hidden in the house but actually the bigger mystery is how the hell the producers managed to persuade so many stars to take part in such a lousy movie.
Director Michael Winner. He should have made way more horror movies than his resume lists. For the 2006 action thriller film, see
Halliran is nearing the end of his life, and Alison, with her history of suicide attempts, has been chosen as the new Sentinel in order to save her own soul.
She escapes by stabbing him and, covered in blood, runs screaming into the street, arousing the whole neighborhood. La storia si prende tempi lunghi per entrare nel vivo e al netto di un ritmo da ospizio riesce a far crescere nel modo giusto il climax attorno al mistero della protagonista. I don't know; what haven't I already talked about incessantly this year? A young woman moves into an apartment building only to find out her eccentric neighbors aren't what she thinks they are. She decides then to start asking about the house's backstory and learns that it hides a terrifying secret.Mediocre supernatural thriller that tries to imitate "The Excorcist"'s themes and style but misses the mark by a wide margin. A young woman moves into an apartment in a building which houses a sinister evil. Many of these actors ham it up - particularly Burgess Meredith giving a fine comic/demented performance as one of the neighbors with a little bird and a cat. Probably The Goonies!
