I get frustrated when I hear about about a history major at a big university moving to Army infantry or something. It was entertaining for sure but also a history lesson with many examples of tidbits of knowledge worth remembering. What a waste of an education. After his term of enlistment, the author leaves active duty and returns to Laos for almost 6 years as a USAID employee. Steven Schofield excellent 'Secret War in Laos, Green Berets. I'm curious about MACV SOG. The bombings formed part of the US secret war in support of the Royal Lao Government, and against the Pathet Lao, a communist political movement in Laos. Been doing a lot of reading around this time/era/area and thought this would be another one. The author takes the reader on his journey through Army Special Forces training, life on Okinawa with the 1st SFG and combat with SOG in Laos.
