The Formula: Unlocking the Secrets to Raising Highly Successful Children This philosophy is succinctly put – “Parenting is never just about children: it’s about the adults they become.” (263).
I wanted to know what these simple lessons are. Written largely for a western, privileged audience. Yes, it's a little long winded, but it is full of some great wisdom.
How to Raise Successful People: Simple Lessons for Radical Results * Frost Magazine * Esther Wojcicki is leading a revolution not only in how we prepare our children to succeed, but how we nurture the health and well-being of parents across the world. The very long personal introduction from the author felt unnecessary as did the many personal anecdotes, which is why I dropped my review to 3 stars. This book had suggestions and science-backed tactics to help build strong, independent, and kind individuals. meh.
I hope you will find it helpful and insightful.
Above all, let your child lead. There are many times where she says “here’s what you should do” with a follow-up “here’s what we did that violates the principle.” If it wasn’t for the occasional use of the word “we” you could believe the author was a single parent. US$11.41 Our Critical Review. This one in particular has a chapter dedicated to GRIT (Angela Duckworth's best selling book) and another good part to The Marshmallow Effect. Goodreads helps you keep track of books you want to read. I gave the book a 3, not because of the content, but because of how it is written.Overall I liked the content in this book and will use many of the strategies with my own children. Have you heard of this book? Rather than being a prescriptive book telling you exactly what to do, this book describes how to act upon a parenting philosophy.
The Formula: Unlocking the Secrets to Raising Highly Successful Children Have you heard of this book? The stories and methods she shares about mothering and teaching are ones that I have found myself trying to implement more in our house. I was interested by the Wojcicki’s great success raising three highly successful daughters, but this book doesn’t tell you how it happened.
I have always been like this and have raised my three daughters like thiAt the bottom line, the message of Esther Wojcicki's book is actually pretty good. INCREDIBLE CREDIBILITY - STEP ASIDE HELICOPTER, SNOW-PLOW AND TIGER PARENTS, MAKE WAY FOR #THEWOJWAYINCREDIBLE CREDIBILITY - STEP ASIDE HELICOPTER, SNOW-PLOW AND TIGER PARENTS, MAKE WAY FOR #THEWOJWAYI mostly enjoyed this book and agreed with the techniques discussed. The book is a distillation of her decades of teaching experience and the techniques she’s seen success with, and if that is what you are looking for you’ll find it. I found it very annoying. 135
What a wonderful book. US$13.61 These days you can't even leave your child unaccompanied in your own back yard. I will start by saying that I am not a fan of parenting books in general. I gave the book a 3, not because of the content, but because of how it is written.I really enjoyed this book. My favourite line being “my children forgave me [for telling them they had their own car, when it was the same for both], not just because I bought another old volvo for them, but because I listened”. Esther Wojcicki is a spirited, grounded, honest, kind, vocal and brave person. However, I did have a few issues. Save your money. The author spends a lot of time talking about how impressive she is and seems out of touch with how most people live.Excellent book on parenting (not for helicopter moms) This felt very, very rushed as if we would read it just because her kids are famous and successful. Just a moment while we sign you in to your Goodreads account. As a parenting book, it is a bit frustrating. She does come off as a little braggy and know-it-all, but she kind of deserves to.Of course, I thought it was great and I recommend it. The Conscious Parent: Transforming Ourselves, Empowering Our Children However, I did have a few issues. She's already extremely rich. Then you can start reading Kindle books on your smartphone, tablet, or computer - no Kindle device required. Her ideas on classroom instruction again would require a teacher with particular attitudes and abilities.I am still not sure what to think about this. Not a 101 book, more for people who are looking for a philosophy, than day to day tips. We’d love your help. "In a time of increased anxiety and helicopter parenting, Wojcicki's advice on helping your child lead seems to speak for itself. US$16.33 Most of the book is padding, annecdotes of one sort or another that don’t feel particularly incisive, written in a colloquial style that feels like an ambling conversation. She has good reason to brag - she has raised three very successful kids and is clearly doing something right as a parent and teacher. For those who have read of the complicated parental relationships which have led to our world’s greatest leaders, the absence of the father in this book speaks volumes about the true source of these successful people. So full of great examples and easy to read. A must-read for parents of children of all ages. US$22.34 US$16.86
