Reiner’s speech completely confuses Eren and Ymir, and horrifies Bertholdt as he knows what is going on.It seems that there are two Reiners: the Reiner we have loved that saved Conny in the tower and the Reiner that took Eren.
This rightly suggests that Ymir knows more what is going on, but has stayed silent. Eren then confronts Bertholdt about everything like his mother’s death as it was the colossal titan’s kick that sent debris onto Eren’s house which lead to his mother’s death. Hannes words seem to get through to her which I really liked as we see a more reliable and courageous Hannes in this season. The good Reiner is still thinking about the night the castle was under siege though it was at least a day ago in this time frame, and he has no idea that he has taken Eren hostage. Maybe it's the fact that his face and stumpy arms still bear the scars of his recent battles, but I don't know if I've ever seen a character look so utterly baffled by his own circumstances. I think this was a key part in this episode.

Fans get a little bit of the confrontation we have been dying for with Eren and Reiner and Bertholdt. Is it kind of silly? Sure, but that doesn't prevent us from feeling the gravity it has on Reiner's character, which is all that really matters. April 7, 2013 One hundred years after the appearance of the Titans, humanity receives a grim reminder of the threat that the Titans pose. They then see the first flare of the scout regiment as they are drawing closer to the forest and that is how the episode ends.I definitely thought this was a character development heavy episode, but I also think it was a really interesting look into Reiner and we get more tidbits of what is really going on which I really liked. They are at a distinct advantage, and, like Hange predicted, they did take refuge in the tree tops from titans that have them surrounded.
There are two abnormals watching their positions as well as a handful of the normal titans below them. He basically had a psychological breakdown and the only way he knew how to cope with his overwhelming guilt over what was happening and all the lives he had ruined was to create another Reiner, the big brother everyone grew to love.
Reiner and Bertholdt stand a bit off wearing ODM gear. It doesn't have the benefit of shocking imagery to bolster its storytelling, and there isn't a gorgeously animated battle to fill the runtime. Though Eren is a littler under-served this week, Reiner, Bertholdt, and Ymir are able to keep the conversation going more effectively than I anticipated. More than anything, this is a long overdue opportunity for Eren to figure out just what the hell is going on. I agree with everything you said.
